My name is Mark Bent. I have had the immense honor of service to our country in the Marines, both enlisted and officer and then in the Navy, as a student pilot. After coming to the realization I was not going to be happy flying a transport aircraft, I was recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency as an operations officer, where I spent fourteen years, in six armed conflicts and where I worked against narcotics traffickers, terrorists, foreign spies and other targets.
Prior to returning to USG service, I drilled an oil well in the Red Sea for a French firm, invented and patented solar lighting devices for the developing world, with articles in the NY Times, Time magazine, Fox News and others.
In 2015 I returned to government service in a leadership role with the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, part of the Department of State, first in Haiti and then afterwards in West Africa for three years, where I was the Senior Regional Security and Justice Coordinator, assisting host governments in their fight against organized crime, narcotics trafficking, Al-Qaeda, ISIS and other destructive organizations.
With a close friend and former CIA colleague, we co-founded Veritas Security Group in May of 2020.
